What is ABS Pipe Material?

ABS is an abbreviation for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene. This strong but lightweight thermoplastic polymer material is incredibly durable even when exposed to very low temperatures. It has good chemical resistance and is a popular material for a wide range of industrial plumbing applications typically produced in a mid-grey colour. It has a smooth bore providing excellent flow characteristics and requires no maintenance. ABS imperial pipe can be joined using conventional solvent welding techniques and is most widely available in Imperial sizes.

U-PVC is the acronym for polyvinyl chloride and is the most commonly used thermoplastic pipework material. The material is incredibly durable and readily available at low cost. One of the outstanding features of this product is its excellent chemical resistance to a wide range of acids, alkalis and chemicals. It is typically produced in dark grey colour for industrial plumbing applications. U-PVC can be joined using conventional solvent welding techniques and is widely available in both Imperial and Metric sizes.
